Who takes care of you when you can’t take care of yourself? When you can’t feed yourself? When you are hungry but there is no food for you to eat? So many of our elders who are now in this situation were once young. My mom, my granny, and myself that you see pictured here all worked in my Dad's tiny deli, and I saw first-hand the joy that food brought to so many. Now they are gone and I’m 73. Time passes far too quickly. It’s up to each and every one of us to do everything we possibly can to make sure those who are aging never go hungry. To make sure they know someone cares about them. To make sure at least once a day they have a smile on their face and a full belly. One day, when you become an elder, you will think back and smile for your decision to participate in whatever way you could with Meals on Wheels America. That will be a memory that all the money in the world could never buy. Don’t pass up this opportunity, it’s priceless. This is why I'm answering Meals on Wheels America’s call to #RespectYourElders.
