HIMS Update I know it skyrocketed yesterday with the announcement of a weight loss compound that HIMS will be offering for sale However The FDA does not approve weight loss compounds, which is what HIMS is bringing out. Personally, I highly doubt that this is the “same” as either Wegovy or Zepbound as offered by NVO and LLY, respectively, even though the active ingredient may be the same. The FDA must approve the manufacturing process only, but nothing else related to a compound. It’s kind of like vitamins—they do not need approval either. As for potential success, I think HIMS is operating in dangerous territory. These drugs are relatively new, but they have been tested by legitimate pharmaceutical companies for years. So I have nothing against them Even so, for a non-pharma or non-biologics company to offer a product into a hot market like this one, and an injectable no less, it does not seem like a good idea. I have invested in health care stocks for decades, and even the best ones go through a “whoops” period; it happens to them all. This company is taking a gigantic risk, in my view and I don't like investing in stocks that can potentially hurt people Just that simple
